About George Panaghi

And now my dream of being a South Park character has been realized!

I am George, and I’m a Cypriot by birth, New Yorker by accident, and a Cosmpolitanist by convinction. There has been a lot of negative criticism of “city-staters” recently, and not only within American politics. Anti-illectualism, provincialism, ethnocentrism, and bigotry are not new, of course.

A cosmopolis is a world city, a city that, regardless of the nation in which it is found, belongs to the world. Historically these cities were port cities like Venice and Amsterdam. They attracted (and indeed still attract) a diverse immigrant population, and became (indeed become) centers of creativity and innovation.

(Cosmpolitanism has nothing to do with globalization).

Some of the issues covered in this blog will be: theatre, travel, immigration, history, theatre, architecture, photography, and theatre. But my criticism is available for anybody who is found to be deserving!

  • Love your blog! I’ve got a friend in Berlin right now, and your blog contains the sort of things that I wish he was sending home to friends and family about his stay.

  • Thanks! I appreciate the comment! Maybe your friend is saving all his impressions for when he’s back!
